In an effort to incorporate food defense analytical testing into existing food safety surveillance programs, the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) and the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) are working together to add food defense surveillance programs to standard food safety assignments. The first assignments that were targeted for food defense incorporation were:
CFSAN and ORA will continue to incorporate food defense components into FDA food safety programs, and there will be opportunities for additional FERN laboratories to participate in these assignments.
